Jasná Nízke Tatry
Jasná Nízke Tatry, the biggest ski arena in Slovakia with great conditions for winter sports, offers endless possibilities for activities, entertainment and active relaxation on the northern and southern side of Mt. Chopok.
There are 49 km of perfectly groomed ski slopes of various difficulty levels for beginners, families with children and advanced skiers, which are ideal also for world-class competition. A modern almost 27 km-long snowmaking system guarantees snow for a minimum of 5 months per year. Lovers of freeride skiing and snowboarding find perfect conditions in several freeride zones and a great snow park, night skiing is available on two lit pistes in the evening.
The winter season begins usually in early December and ends in late April. 29 cable cars, chairlifts and ski lifts operate on Mt. Chopok, their total capacity is more than 30,000 people per hour.
Jasná has always been a resort where recreational skiing went hand in hand with professional ski racing. A resort where conditions for the development of tourism but also for organising of sports events have been created. So far, Jasná has hosted eleven European Cups, two Winter World Universiades, European Junior Championships and three World Cups.
This means we had a chance to see the European elite of all disciplines on the slopes of Mt. Chopok in the last five years, including the king of all, downhill. FIS acknowledged Jasná as one of the best European Cup organisers in 2011 and 2012.
