5G network and 26 WiFi subnets in Jasna

(Jasna, January 18, 2024) Jasna will experience a weekend rush unlike anything it is used to. There should be a total of 15-16 thousand people in the area. It will be a load even from a technological point of view, but the external communication manager of Slovak Telekom, Michal Korec, claims that the resort is prepared for this.

"There will be 26 WiFi networks available, of course, combined into one. We know exactly where people will concentrate the most. We know where the capacity is highest. Moreover, everything is done so that the WiFi networks don't interfere with each other. Each of them will be separate. And we also have 5G technology," Korec stated at today's briefing. The antenna is located on Priehyba. "We cover the entire resort with it. By the way, we had to pull the fiber optic cable from Liptov, which is about 18 km away," he explains.

The prepared signal should be able to cover an area of about 80,000 square meters. "These 26 WiFis represent 26 points on it. They are overdesigned to have a consistent quality. Not that someone will have a full signal and another nothing. And we also understand that with journalists, we had to ensure a higher flow to the world," Korec describes.

The company brought the fiber optic to the resort half a year ago. "Apart from that, all of this represents a project for several weeks to months. Chopok will now be the best mountain in Slovakia in terms of signal coverage," he smiles. He adds that they turned off the old 3G network in Jasna last year. "But some capacity remained there, and this resort will be the first on the map of Slovakia where we will now use that capacity," he concluded.

Trumpeš: We feel a pleasant tension

The head of the organizing committee, Jiří Trumpeš, is also in full swing. "We feel a pleasant tension, but we are looking forward to it. Today, it's raining, which is not the best, but certainly better than yesterday when it was very windy. That was a bit of a problem. But tomorrow, it should freeze pleasantly," says Trumpeš.

The resort is fully prepared for the start of the races, except for a few details. "Everything starts with tomorrow's draw. We already launch the accompanying program at noon, the draw for the giant slalom is planned at 6 PM. We are still finishing the gastro tent," reveals Trumpeš.

According to his words, the spectator capacity at Koliesko will be 7,000, and on Priehyba, it will be 5,000. "The view from Priehyba is really beautiful. You can see the entire track from there. I would like to remind the spectators to come early. The shuttle service starts running at four in the morning and ends at nine. We recommend arriving before half-past five. Park the cars and go up," reminds Trumpeš.

Most teams are already in the resort, and there is already a lively atmosphere in the Grand Hotel, where the press center is located. "Most of them moved from Flachau, so they are already here. Bulgarian, Israeli, and Hungarian teams are missing, but we expect them in the near future," he added."
