The most important sporting event of the year in Slovakia - the Alpine Skiing World Cup 2021 in Jasná - will start on Saturday. In addition to top sports performances, it will also bring, to a limited extent, the participation of the highest representatives of the FIS, of the professional sports community and of representatives of the most important partners.
The World Cup is held under the auspices of the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Igor Matovič and the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic. The event will be attended by FIS representatives Peter Gerdol, Race Director, Markus Majer, Technical Director, Andreas Krönner, Executive Technical Manager, Bohumír Zeman, Technical Delegate and Wojciech Gajewsky, Deputy Sports Director of Jana Palovičová. Due to the prestige and international significance of the event, the organizers of the World Cup invited the highest state officials to Jasná in advance.
"We are aware of the difficulty of the current situation, we respect the decision of those who have decided not to come and we believe that they will keep our fingers crossed. At the same time, however, we are aware that the World Cup is still a top and prestigious event which, while keeping strict hygienic measures, is an ideal opportunity not only for sports diplomacy, but also further negotiations, for example on the future of tourism in Demänovská dolina, which is also in the center of public attention due to the current petition, "said Matej Hulej, the President of the Organising Committee.
According to information updated on 5 March 2021, 12:00 the participation in the event was confirmed by the Minister of Transport Andrej Doležal, whose ministry took over the patronage of the event.
