The Audi FIS World Cup 2021 in Jasná will start with a slalom

Exchange of disciplines in Jasná due to weather

JASNÁ (March 5, 2021) - The organizers of the Audi FIS World Cup in women alpine skiing in the Low Tatras resort of Jasná had to change the order of the disciplines in which skiers will fight for ranking points the day before the competition weekend. The reason is the weather forecast below Chopok.

Slovak favourite Petra Vlhová was originally supposed to compete in giant slalom on Saturday 6 March and in slalom on Sunday 7 March. Now it will be the other way round. There will be slalom first and then giant slalom. During both competition days, the first rounds are to start from 9.30. The changes in the program were also approved by the representatives of the International Ski Federation (FIS).

„Due to weather, FIS together with the organizers has decided to change programme. Tomorrow it is expected to be cloudy and the weather forecast predicts better weather on Sunday,“ President of the Organising Committee Matej Hulej explains.

The exchange of disciplines within one competition weekend of the World Cup is not unusual. The current forecast during Jasná does not suggest that any of the competitions would have to be cancelled by the organizers.

The snow conditions in Jasná are still exemplary, the competitors had the opportunity to ride on the prepared tracks on Friday. Petra Vlhová was also among them. “It start here tomorrow, but unfortunately you can't be here with me. I firmly believe that you will enjoy it in front of the TV screen and we will keep our fingers crossed for me. I believe we can do it together. I'm already looking forward to the competition weekend,” revealed 25-year-old skier on Friday.
