Ropeway Experience in Slovakia

All around the globe, Doppelmayr/Garaventa ropeways carry passengers and freight – in South American cities and Asian tourist destinations as well as in the traditional ski resorts of the European Alps. In Slovakia, too, large numbers of guests get to experience ropeway technology from the global market leader on their way to fun on the ski slopes.

Doppelmayr/Garaventa has already completed many exciting ropeway projects in Slovakia. In particular, the ropeway manufacturer enjoys a long-standing partnership with top resort operator Tatry mountain resorts, a.s. Over the last 25 years, a total of 20 ropeway installations were implemented jointly in the three ski areas Jasná, Tatranská Lomnica and Starý Smokovec. These included everything from surface lifts and funicular railways to monocable gondolas and a Funitel.

The Funitel Priehyba-Chopok is one of the highlights of the Jasná ski area and at the same time a major project for Doppelmayr/Garaventa in recent years. Alongside its outstanding wind stability, this lift installation impresses with cutting-edge technology and a unique design. The stations and cabins are in an elegant black finish throughout. Premium-quality materials were used exclusively for the station cladding. Each cabin offers room for up to 24 passengers. In addition, this ropeway offers top performance with a remarkable travel speed of 7 m/s and a transport capacity of 2,480 passengers an hour.
