There is enough snow in Jasná, the TV towers had to be raised

An important event of global significance, such as the World Cup in alpine skiing in Jasná undoubtedly is, brings from the organisational point of view the need to think about many important details. And one of them is to ensure television transmissions at the required level. The whole team of people is involved in this process and it is not just a matter of a few days at all.

A total of 19 cameras are ready for international broadcasts, including two cameras that shoot at high speed. There will also be four camera cranes and other cameras are available for interviews or broadcasters' studios. "Our duty is to bring reality as accurately as possible so that the race is attractive and you can see the profile of the course, the quality of the competitors or the choice of their track and technique. Since this is a specific year and there can be no spectators on the track, we have to capture the unique atmosphere. It is necessary to realize that we started preparations already in the summer and now we have come to the conclusion that we had to increase some camera towers by three meters. Imagination and a bit of luck play a big role, so that everything on the day of the race corresponds to reality," said Karel Jonák, director of broadcasts from the World Cup in Jasná, who has already participated in the preparation of important sports broadcasts in the past.

He also revealed more about the recent inspection of the course and the evaluation of conditions in Jasná. "We walked the whole course from start to finish and found that this year there are really excellent snow conditions. For us, this means that we had to significantly raise the three camera towers and adjust some camera positions so that everything was ready for transmission and the shots were optimal. If we did not raise the towers, there would be safety nets in the cameras," said Karel Jonák.

In some cases, it is necessary to work really at extraordinary heights. "The towers are three and eight meters high. The key turn is on Priehyba, where we have enough cameras and a crane at a height of four meters. We hope that everything will work," the director revealed.

And what team he will work with in Jasná? "We have an international team; we have cameramen from several countries. We tried to choose the top in this direction. We also invited the production manager, who has experience in organising all World Cups in Italy, Lorenzo Gerardi has participated in production for Infront in recent years," concluded Karel Jonák.
